Review: The Year of the Flood

The Year of the FloodThe Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I would describe the genre as a soft-sci-fi post-apocalyptic. Not having read Oryx & Crake yet, jumping into the chaotic Babylon, the endgame and the stories of the two protagonists was a bit confusing and glacially slow, but paid off as I read further. Other characters already established in O&C come off as half-people, as if the reader should have read O&C to get the other half of them. While it might have been a glaring flaw in character development if I were reading another book, it does encourage me to read O&C and get the other half of them.
