This Afternoon at NX35: Digital Downloads Are Ruining Everything! – Dallas Music – DC9 At Night.
One thing I forgot to mention in the piece; Schlarb basically dominated the panel discussion with his doom and snark(I Heart Lung is cool, though). On the part of the discussion of college radio, everyone in the panel agreed that most college DJs are playing to an audience of themselves now that music blogs have taken their function. Damn right we are. I wouldn't have it any other way.
I was also in on the Albini keynote. One fascinating thing he lamented is that music journalism has no standards, not even to get facts correct. This puts them in the bottom rung of journalistic pursuits. While I strive to get facts correct, I acutually enjoy the maverick method of music journalism. The only pressure I'm under is editorial and some stylistic pressure. It's a really good gig if you can manage a good paycheck.
